quentin pascal freeman

quentin (they/them) works with pen, paper, people, and place. they are interested in illuminating and tending to relationships rooted in care, wonder, and restoration. their multidisciplinary work spans community-based research, outreach and engagement, illustration, animation, writing, design, and editorial/curatorial work.

they are of european descent via generations of suburban america, and feel most at home on california’s central coast, in the redwoods, oak woodland, or coastal bluffs. a graduate from uc berkeley’s urban studies program, they are currently living in san francisco, working in community engagement and illustration, and stirring up trouble + soup.

they are also the founder + editor of makeshift magazine (issue two: fire season coming soon). check it out @makeshiftzine on instagram or find it in bookstores in san francisco.

quentin is really excited about the books they’re reading on transformative justice and the natural history of the point reyes peninsula.
